INTRODUCTION

Robotic surgery has been transforming surgical practice across various specialties, requiring surgeons to possess not only technical knowledge but also operational proficiency with the platform and the ability to adapt to the robotic environment.

With this in mind, Scolla has developed a training program structured around two tracks, designed both for physicians who wish to begin their journey in robotic surgery and for those who are already certified and seek to expand their practical experience on a new platform.

The Comprehensive Training Program offers a progressive curriculum that integrates recorded online classes, simulator training, and hands-on in-service experience, providing students with exposure to the fundamentals, technology, and real-world dynamics of robotic surgery.

The Robotic Familiarization program, on the other hand, was created for already certified surgeons who need to become familiar with the robotic platform they use, developing operational confidence, technical adaptability, and fluency in the surgical environment through supervised hands-on training.

With a methodology focused on hands-on practice, technology, and an immersive experience, Scolla provides a learning environment aligned with the realities of modern robotic surgery, bridging training, innovation, and clinical application.

Simulator Training
Robotics simulator training held at the Scolla Training Center.
Individual appointments are scheduled based on availability.

In-service
Practical application of training on the robotic platform in the animal lab.
Conducted with a general surgery proctor at the Scolla Training Center.
*(Module 3) Practical sessions are scheduled provided there is a minimum of 5 students.

  • Opening remarks and course overview.
  • The certification and training process for robotic surgery.
  • Operation and Components of the Robotic Platform.
  • Surgeon's console, patient cart, and tower: overview.
  • Using the master controls, operating the camera, controlling instruments: switching arms.
  • Clutch lever and instrument cluster, remote center.
  • Docking, positioning the camera arm and mounting the cannulas, undocking.
  • Camera and equipment setup and breakdown + guided tour.
  • Ergonomic control: repositioning the Masters.
  • Camera controls, focus, zoom, white balance, 3D calibration, and more.
  • Communication among team members.
  • Procedures for Dealing with Emergencies and Malfunctions of the Robotic Platform.
